Build Description
Gear
Shocking spear of fortitude, defensive air offhand, shield swap set. Stack health mods on your armor and whatever level spear mastery rune you prefer. You do NOT need command or leadership runes.
Instructions
Precast conjure lightning and try to get some of the energy back before the fight. Maintain soldier's fury and can't touch this during battle.
Combo shell shock and chest thumper for deep wound and cracked armor even if the target is at full hp (deep wound is less effective if you have to wait halfway through the fight to use it). Use barbed spear to cover the conditions and spread bleeding to other enemies, and blazing spear for a nice chunk of damage. Get cracked armor and deep wound on multiple enemies when energy allows.
Cracked armor is very useful in pvp because even monks will use defensive sets to increase their armor enough that cracked armor will make a difference.
Energy is tight, but since it's easy to get your energy pool pretty high with paragon armor and the off-hand, you can do a lot before you have to start playing more conservative.
Assassins and other touch skill users can effectively remove your IAS, but they will have to waste 3 failed touch skills in a row to do it.
Variations
Wild throw for blazing spear.
Teinai's wind or whirlwind and merciless spear for chest thumper and blazing spear. You can only use deep wound as a finisher now, but you can easily disrupt assassins and other melee attackers (an amazing skill for linebacking).
Go for the eyes for energy.
